Nusantara Folklore "Legend of Angels Lake"
The area was inhabited by a handsome man, Awang Sukma was named. He lives alone and does not have a wife. He became a ruler in that area. Therefore, he holds data. Besides being handsome, he is also adept at blowing flutes. The songs touch the feelings of anyone who listens to them.
Awang Sukma often harvests birds if the lime tree is flowering and the birds come to suck honey. He installed the sap of the tree that had been cooked by attaching it to the bamboo blades. Bamboo blades that have been given sap are called pulut. Pulut was installed between the flower stalks. When the bird perches, the wings will stick in the pulses. The more the bird struggles, the tighter the wings are attached. Finally, the bird floundered to the ground with the pulses. Then, Awang Sukma caught and put it in a basket. Usually, dozens of birds can be brought home. It is said that that is why among the population, Awang Sukma was nicknamed Datu Suling and Datu Pulut.
However, one day the atmosphere in the area was very quiet. There are no birds and no insects are interested in approaching the Iimau flowers that are breaking.
"Wonder," Awang Sukma said, "it looks like the lime is poisonous so the birds don't want to come to him anymore." Awang Sukma did not despair. While lying in the shade of the lime trees, he sang beautiful songs through the flute blowing. It's always the way he does it while keeping his pulses touching. Actually by blowing the flute, he wanted to entertain himself. Because with the rhythm of the flute rhythm, his longing for those he left behind was somewhat cured. That said, Awang Sukma is a migrant from a distant country.
Awang Sukma was stunned by the rhythm of his flute. A gentle breeze that caressed his hair made him sleepy. Finally, the flute echo disappeared and the flute lay on its side. He fell asleep.
For some time he was lulled by a dream, suddenly he woke up because he was startled by the noise of the flapping wings. He does not believe in his vision. His eyes were rubbed.
Apparently, there are seven beautiful young princesses coming down from the sky. They fly to the lake. Shortly thereafter, there was a loud voice and their laughter burst into water.
"I want to see them up close," Awang Sukma muttered while looking for a place to peek that was not easily known by the peeping person.
From the hiding place, Awang Sukma could stare more clearly. The seven princesses did not think at all that a pair of handsome men sharply enjoyed their bodies. Mata Awang Sukma stopped by their clothes which were scattered on the edge of the lake. The outfit is also a tool to fly them when going down to the lake or back to their residence in Kayangan. Surely they are angels who descend on the mayapada.
Satisfied bursting into the clear lake water, they played on the edge of the lake. That said, their game was called surui dayang. They were so absorbed in playing that they did not know that Awang Sukma took and hid one of the daughters' clothes. Then, the clothes are inserted into a bumbung (a tube of reed used to cook lemang). He hid it in a kindai (barn for storing rice).
When the seven daughters wanted to wear clothes again, it turned out that one of them did not find his clothes. Awang Sukma's actions made them panic. The daughter who lost her clothes is the youngest daughter, the most beautiful coincidence. As a result, the youngest daughter cannot fly back to heaven.
Confusion, fear, and resentment make the youngest daughter helpless. At that time, Awang Sukma came out of his hiding place.
"Princess, do not be afraid and sad," persuaded Awang Sukma, "stay while with the servant."
There is no reason for the youngest daughter to refuse. The youngest daughter lives with Awang Sukma.
Awang Sukma felt that the youngest daughter was his mate so he asked for her hand. The youngest daughter was willing to be his wife. They become a very harmonious couple, between good looks and beauty, wisdom and gentleness, in the bond of love. The fruit of their love is a princess named Kumalasari. Her face and skin inherited her mother's beauty.
Apparently it was already a world custom, there is nothing eternal and eternal on this earth. What Awang Sukma had hidden all this time finally smelled.
That afternoon, Awang Sukma slept very well. He felt very tired after work. His wife sat beside the cradle of his daughter who was also fast asleep. At that time, a black chicken rose to the barn. He scavenged and stabbed the rice on the granary surface while clucking in noisily. Rice was scattered to the floor.
The youngest daughter hunted him down. His eyes accidentally stared at a barn in the former kaisan black chicken earlier. The youngest daughter took the bumbung because she wanted to know its contents. How shocked his heart was after seeing the contents of the bumbung.
"Apparently, my husband is hiding my clothes so I can't go home with my brothers," he said, holding the clothes.
The youngest daughter's feelings raged so that her chest went up and down. He feels anxious, upset, deceived, angry, and sad. The various flavors blend with love for her husband.
"I have to go back," he said to himself.
Then, the youngest daughter wears the clothes. After that, he carried his daughter who was not yet a year old. He hugged and kissed his daughter to his heart's content while crying. Kumalasari cried. The mother and child crying made Awang Sukma awake.
Awang Sukma was stunned when he stared at the clothes his wife was wearing. The place where the clothes were hidden lay on the kindai. Realize that when separation is impossible it will be delayed again.
"Adinda must return," his wife said. "Kanda, take care of our daughter, Kumalasari. If he misses his mother, Kanda take seven candlenut seeds, put them in a basket. Then, the basket was jiggling. Chant a song with Kanda flute. Adinda will come to meet him. "
The youngest daughter flew and disappeared in the sky leaving her beloved husband and daughter. His wife's message was carried out. However, the longing for his wife had to be buried because they could not be united as usual. He poured out his love for Kumalasari, his daughter. It is said that Awang Sukma swore and forbade his descendants to keep black chickens which were considered to be a disaster for him.
Telaga referred to in the legend above was then given the name Telaga Bidadari, located in the village of Pematang Gadung. The village includes the Sungai Raya District, eight kilometers from the town of Kandangan, the capital of South Hulu Sungai Regency, South Kalimantan Province.
Until now, Bidadari Lake has been visited by many people. In addition, there were no residents who kept black chickens, purportedly according to Awang Sukma's oath which was titled Datu Pulut and Datu Suling.
